DEDICAT

The Development of Depression’s Digital Forecasting Tool

The DEDICAT project aims to develop a follow-up system for psychological functioning. Research in recent years shows that there is an increasing need for prevention strategies and early treatment to stay ahead of negative evolutions in mental well-being. These negative evolutions can be reflected by early warning signals (e.g., brooding). These signals will be the focus and monitored during the project’s studies.

The surge in technological Innovations and artificial intelligence has opened new doors to the development of these strategies. As people have more and more data about themselves, such as through their phones, we want to use these innovations to do more person-centric monitoring with this data. As a result, we want to be able to more quickly identify what, for a given person, their specific risk factors or warning signs are, and how these evolve together with their mental health. This research is a collaboration between PANlab, IDLab, GHEPlab, and imec-mict-UGent. The idea comes entirely from UGent.
